I’m coming to terms with the fact that I’m getting older and parts of my body now need more attention than they used to. Like my heart.  It’s not something I think about everyday because I just assume it will always work.  But some staggering statistics from the Women and Heart Disease Foundation has me looking for ways to get my heart healthy, now.

Did you know 435,000 American women have heart attacks annually? 83,000 are under age 65 and 35,000 are under 55.  A heart attack is caused by a build up of cholesterol and other substances in the arteries that causes a blockage.

Can we stop a heart attack from happening?  I have no idea (I’m definitely not a medical professional). But I believe there are things you can do to be proactive to help prevent one including taking a daily probiotic.

As you may or may not know, probiotics are the healthy bacteria that live in your gut. Keeping them happy and healthy can have a positive benefit on your digestive system, immune system and other parts of the body.

As you know I’m a fan of UP4 Probiotics.  Not only do they sponsor my podcast, but we have also been taking these healthy gut supplements for nearly a year and seen the benefits first hand.  I usually take the Women’s formula but recently decided to try the Heart Health formula.

UP4 Probiotics says Heart Health is the first clinically proven heart health probiotic. It features the UP4 patented superstrain Lactobacillus reuteri NCIMB 30242 (LRC™), the first clinically proven probiotic to help maintain healthy levels of cholesterol in the body.*

It’s clinically formulated to help maintain the normal amount of cholesterol your body produces and support your body’s natural elimination of cholesterol.*

While it might be a small change, I feel like this is a step in the right direction as far as getting my heart healthy. I can’t turn back time, but I can start making a change in my health right now and I’m looking forward to seeing what a difference it makes.

You can read more about the clinical studies done on Heart Health and learn more about their other on their website, up4probiotics.com.
