I am stressed the eff out! I’m doing a blog post right now and avoiding the ever-growing list of things I have to do because, I’m overwhelmed.  Per usual, I’ve bitten off more than I can chew. Have you ever done that? Found yourself over committed and under staffed? (Party of one!)

This is not me. But it's what I will be doing when I publish this post.

This is not me. But it’s what I will be doing when I publish this post.

Since launching MIH just over a year ago it started as a way to fill time between auditions. It was a way for me to learn about my industry by hearing the stories of other people who are actually working in it.  I love doing my podcast. It brings me immense joy and I don’t know if I’ll ever stop doing it.

But in all honestly, I’m tired. Things are expanding quickly and I’m trying to keep up. Of course it’s all in the best way possible but that doesn’t mean I can’t vent about it right?

What worries me is the negative effects too much stress can have on my body. Did you know that stress can contribute to insomnia, heart disease, obesity and diabetes? For real!

This is from the Mayo Clinic:

Common effects of stress on your body

  • Headache
  • Muscle tension or pain
  • Chest pain
  • Fatigue
  • Change in sex drive
  • Stomach upset
  • Sleep problems

Common effects of stress on your mood

  • Anxiety
  • Restlessness
  • Lack of motivation or focus
  • Feeling overwhelmed
  • Irritability or anger
  • Sadness or depression

Common effects of stress on your behavior

  • Overeating or undereating
  • Angry outbursts
  • Drug or alcohol abuse
  • Tobacco use
  • Social withdrawal
  • Exercising less often

I personally can attest to already having several of these issues. I would blame my fat rolls on stress but really that’s just a lack of exercise these days. I know I know…if I exercise it will decrease my stress level. But the idea of scheduling time to exercise, STRESSES ME OUT!

You see my conundrum here?

Ultimately I need to find ways to cut the clutter from my life a bit. Find ways to organize my days better and start prioritizing. These are all things I know I need to do, but did you see the “lack of motivation or focus” listed there? Yep.

Now what was I saying?  Oh yes… I’m stressed. Send help!
