Spellbound by Just Add Magic Season 2 From Amazon Studios

Channing and I recently had the chance to celebrate the release of season 2 of the Amazon Prime Original series Just Add Magic and we were caught under its spell. I had the pleasure of interviewing the cast at a launch party for season 2 at Au Fudge in West Hollywood.

Just Add Magic stars Kelly (Olivia Sanabia) and her two best friends Darbie (Abby Donnelly) and Hannah (Aubrey Miller) as they stumble upon a mysterious cookbook. They quickly discover that the recipes inside are far from ordinary. They are magical! The girls realize they need to use them to release Kelly’s grandmother from a powerful curse. What struck me most when I met the girls is how much they have grown up! In season one they are all about 9-12 years old.  Now they are in their tweens and very excited to be a part of Just Add Magic and see where their characters go.

In season 2 of Just Add Magic we meet an old enemy missing since 1965 as he returns to Saffron Falls and he hasn’t aged a day. The girls have to put their “no magic” summer of fun on hold to protect the cookbook from falling into the wrong hands.  I really like this show. Not only because it captures that spirit of friendship and the wonder of magic, but because it showcases 3 strong female characters and is a great example for young girls. At the party Channing and her friends cast their spells in the kitchen as Olivia, Abby and Aubrey led them in a “cooking class” where they made their own mini-cakes.

The kids were dressed in chef hats and Just Add Magic aprons to get into the spirit. Then they decorated them in the most beautiful pastel pearls and sprinkles. Of course my girl covered her cake in sprinkles. Channing’s favorite part was watching an episode of the show and of course eating her cake!

Au Fudge owner Jessica Biel stopped by to make the event even more magical. I was wearing Old Navy leggings. She was wearing Jimmy Choo’s. We’re basically twins. If only I could whip up some spell to have Jessica’s taste in fashion then I would write my own magical spell cookbook!
