If your kids are avid readers and fans of Nick Jr. shows, now there’s an app just for them! The Nick Jr. Books app is the first reading app for preschoolers and their families, featuring a collection of interactive books based on fan-favorite shows including PAW Patrol, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Bubble Guppies, Wallykazam! and Dora the Explorer.
The app is designed to cultivate a love of reading in young children and comes with three free books when installed and the option to purchase nearly 50 additional interactive books. It also allows children to develop Spanish reading skills, with four Dora books in Spanish. The Nick Jr. Books app features Apple Watch integration and is now free to download for iPad and iPhone.
Creators of the Nick Jr. Books app say the goal is to promote literacy skills and actively engage children in the reading process. It does this through text highlighting and interactive effects when they tap on each page. Each book in the app is fully narrated and features three reading modes including auto-read, read-aloud and read-myself. Additionally, a reward system is built into the experience so children can earn stars for completing books and check their progress on the awards screen. TheNick Jr. Books app also includes tips for parents and reading comprehension questions to help kids build vocabulary.
The Nick Jr. Books app also features:
- Interactive character elements on every page;
- Parental tips to foster child’s vocabulary and reading comprehension;
- Offline reading (for use while in the car);
- Daytime and nighttime modes for bedtime reading;
- Special section for adults to view offers, manage child accounts and app settings;
- Apple Watch connect for parent tips (iPhone only);
- And the ability to view the entire book collection at a glance or browse by Nick Jr. characters.
