When I was growing up my days were filled with soccer and cheerleading. When I wasn’t cheering, I was playing soccer. In fact, I was the captain of my soccer team and even tried out for my college team. I loved it so much! It’s great exercise and a wonderful way to teach teamwork, more than any other sport IMO.
Now, I finally get to be a soccer mom! I signed Channing up for Super Soccer Stars and she recently had her first practice. Super Soccer Stars is a fun, engaging and non-competitive way to learn the sport. Super Soccer Stars started in 2000 and has grown a lot since then. They have reached 100k + kids across 13 states, including here in SoCal. They offer classes, camps, mini seasons, birthday events, and can host private groups.
My favorite thing about this organization is that they teach fundamentals over competition. So much of the world we live in is filled with trying to outshine other people instead of mastering a skill. And it’s never too early to start learning a sport or skill. Channing was excited to try it since the only sport she’s ever really done is gymnastics.
Coach Angela was so welcoming and inclusive. And after watching her try to wrangle 6-year-olds for an hour I also have to say she’s a saint! Right away they started with practical drills of learning to stop the ball, and pass with the inside of the foot. Aahhh so many memories of hours and hours of passing drills are flooding my mind.
It was interesting to see Chan’s confidence build over the course of the class. When it came time to scrimmage, she was confidently running toward the ball. Although to be fair, everyone was running towards the ball. But she was having FUN and that’s what Super Soccer Stars is all about.
If you’ve ever wanted your child to learn how to play soccer in a non-competitive way to see if they like it, or if YOU like it, visit SuperSoccerStars.com to find a class near you. Use the code WINTERWIN to get $15 off a winter class.
