If you have a preschooler then chances are you watch a lot of shows on Nick Jr. like Shimmer and Shine, Paw Patrol, and TMNT. We are big Shimmer and Shine fans in this house. So when Nickelodeon invited me to stop by and take a look at their new line of toys for the holidays I couldn’t wait to check them out.
While we were there we had the pleasure of meeting the creator of Shimmer and Shine, Farnaz Esnaashari-Charmatz who guided us through the very glamorous and girly toys from the show. Side note: she’s also going to be a guest on my podcast in a few weeks so be on the lookout for that.
Channing went right for the Shimmer and Shine Magical Flying Carpet and the Wish and Spin Shimmer. This girl knows what she likes!
We also played with the PAW Patrol Chase on the Case Cruiser, Pups to the Rescue and the Christmas Snow Globe. So much cute stuff!
The options for the TMNT fans were endless. We checked out the T-Blasts and the Sewer Slam. And if you’re a fan of Blaze And The Monster Machines there’s some cool toys coming out like a Zeg Monster Morpher and the Blaze Gear Garage.
As cool as those toys were, I literally had to pry her away from the Shimmer and Shine Genie Dress Up outfits. What can I say? I have a very girly girl!
One of the coolest parts of the day was the tour! We were treated to a behind the scenes look at the Nickelodeon Animation Studios where they create their fantastic shows. We got up close with storyboards, and artwork, and saw the process behind each show from conception to execution.
A wonderful artist named Morgan Bell was there drawing pictures. She drew an adorable picture of Chan as a genie with Shimmer and Shine. It was such a special moment! I don’t think Chan realizes how cool it is to have a talented artist draw your picture, but she will one day.
Bottom line, our Christmas shopping list is filling up fast. I think I’ll make a separate list and send it to grandma so she can help!
