Chris Brooker is back on the show to talk about why we don’t have flying cars and hologram watches yet (seriously, why don’t we?) He’s also here to talk about some of the most anticipated movies of 2020. Well, at least the ones we’re anticipating the most.
On the top of both of our lists is “Wonder Woman 1984.” I love anything 80’s and I have a feeling this is going to be a retro nostalgia overload and I can’t wait. I think Chris is just pumped to see Gal Gadot in her WW outfit (and who can blame him?)
We are split on “Top Gun 2.” I am pumped for that one, for sexual reasons. Chris doesn’t think it’s necessary. I’m like, of course it’s necessary! We have to see what they’ve been up to these last 30 years! Are they still riding the hog into the sunset? And there better be a volleyball scene or I’m walking out.
We’re also spilt on “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” Chris is really excited for this one because he thinks it looks like a unique continuation of the characters. I think it looks like a kids version of the original, set on a farm. But hey, Paul Rudd is in it so that’s a win!
Then there’s “Birds of Prey.” We both feel meh about this one. Don’t @ me but Harley Quinn is one of my least favorite DC characters. Chris just doesn’t think the trailer makes it look very good. Either way I’m sure we’ll see it.
Both of us are excited for “Coming to America 2.” How could we not be? Eddie Murphy and the whole cast are back to serve up some antics and I am ready for it. Also, can we just take a moment to be glad that Eddie Murphy has come out of hiding and is blessing us with his comedy again? Praise be!
Other movies we feel equally mildly excited about are “No Time to Die”, “Black Widow”, “A Quiet Place: Part II”, “Bad Boys for Life” and “Fast and Furious 9.” Do we really need a 9th movie of racing cars and bald dudes? I guess so.
There are a lot of movies coming out this year but honestly nothing other than WW1984 has caught my eye yet. But television on the other hand is filling in the blanks where the box office is lacking. We’re saving that chat for another show.
What movie do you want to see in 2020?
