One of the most magical things we did on our recent trip to London was visit Harrods Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. This Disney dream is tucked away on the 4th floor of Harrods and is designed to look like a castle in a far away land.
I stumbled upon this gem while planning for our trip and immediately knew we had to take Channing. They transform little girls into princesses, in England, where there are actual castles! Where do I sign up? The BBB gives you several package options to choose from and they range from 150 GBP’s to 1000 GBP’s. We chose the mid-range option so we would have enough money to get back home. Because, #middleclass.
When you arrive there are Fairy Godmother’s in Training waiting for your princess to arrive. From the beginning they addressed Channing as Princess Channing. They walked her through the castle where the head Fairy Godmother talked to her through a mirror and explained what was about to happened. Chan was skeptical. Were there REALLY mice making her dress? Are these REAL Fairy Godmother’s in Training? She couldn’t wait to see!
With a little magic we moved through the “castle” and into the salon. The opulent pink and gold beauty salon was made for princesses. Chan’s FGIT (Fairy Godmother in Training) took us to a special dressing room where the mice had just finished making her dress. So when the doors opened, there was a beautiful Belle dress, with sparkly gold shoes and a tiara. I have never seen my 4-year-old so speechless.
Side note, I actually picked out a Cinderella dress for her but while we were in the salon she kept saying she only wanted a Belle dress. Ugh. So the FGIT’s were gracious enough to run back in the room and switch out the wardrobe before we went in. Clever little mice.
For the next half hour the FGIT did Chan’s nails, her hair and makeup. All the while we listened to Disney music and Chan chatted way happily about her friends at school. Seeing her get caught up in this magic absolutely memorable. We were the only family in the salon so it felt like we had a very VIP experience. Plus the adorable FGIT’s really made us feel the magic.
Once the makeover was done, Chan posed for pictures in front of her carriage and was given a royal decree to be kind, and good to all her subjects. C’mon! How great is that? Chris and I were sobbing messes so of course when they asked if we wanted to buy any pictures we said yes. All of them!
Finally it was time to re-introduce Channing to the world (4th floor of Harrods) as Princess Channing! Everyone within earshot applauded and she puffed up her chest a bit. So proud to strut in her golden, glittery dress. If I haven’t made it clear by now this moment was, magical.
But here’s the kicker! If you have a princess that would love this experience you better hurry! Harrods is closing the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on June 1st. In fact, we were one of the last appointments they had booked and I’m so glad we got to experience it before it closes for good. Don’t go to London just for the BBB, but if you happen to be there or are headed that way, definitely make this a stop on your royal tour.
