This is a sponsored post in partnership with Peanuts Worldwide. All thoughts and opinions are mine.

The world feels upside down right now because of the current global health crisis. And that can be a little overwhelming. Like many people, we are working from home and have also found ourselves in the role of first grade teachers. Let me just say that teachers deserve a big fat raise for all the work they do! There’s no way we could ever replace them, but we’ve found a pretty good rhythm so far. And I am always looking for engaging activities to challenge Chan, and bonus points if it gets us moving.

Plus, when I feel overwhelmed I look for things that bring me a sense of comfort. That’s why I was thrilled to find out that our old friend Snoopy and The Peanuts Gang have free downloadable at-home classroom lessons and activities.

But these aren’t just any lessons. The lessons and activities were developed by the award-winning curriculum specialists at Young Minds Inspired. YMI is the nation’s leading provider of free educational outreach programs. The lessons were also reviewed by their blue-ribbon panel of active teachers. Plus, they are easy to download  and print off so you can start using them right away.

Parents and students can choose from 5 different lesson plans.

  • Snoopy in Space
  • Peanuts and NASA
  • Springtime with Peanuts
  • The Peanuts Movie
  • Never Give Up, Charlie Brown

We picked Springtime with Peanuts and headed outside, between rainstorms, and got to work. The instructions are easy to follow and you can even select the activity by grade level. We started looking for flowers, with Snoopy’s help of course. Chan and I were surprised to see just how many varieties of flowers we have in our neighborhood.

Next we did a sentence scramble and matched trees with their seasons. This gave us a great opportunity to talk about the differences in seasons, which was something Chan was studying in class right before we started homeschooling.

We also had some engaging, and age appropriate math that involved Snoopy, Charlie, Lucy and sports. It was the perfect way to celebrate spring with Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang! If you’d like to try these at-home lessons for yourself, it’s easy! Just visit peanuts.com and click the picture with Snoopy’s At-Home Lessons. Then download each activity sheet and get to work. Kids will love the lessons and parents will love that comforting feeling you can only get from Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of The Peanuts Gang.
