Getting the supplies you need to send your kids back-to-school can get expensive. That’s why I’ve compiled a list of local organizations who are offering help to those who need it. Please check with with each organization before you make the trip to ensure the back-to-school giveaways are still happening. And share this information with your community in case there’s someone who could benefit.

SOUTH GATE BACK TO SCHOOL
TIME: 9AM
LOCATION: 2340 Firestone Blvd, South Gate
Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) will be having a Backpack Giveaway for students of district AD63. He will be giving away backpacks full of school supplies for students K-8th Grade.
PUBLIC HEALTH BACK TO SCHOOL

Join us for our FREE Back-To-School Health & Wellness Fair this Saturday from 10am-2pm at Belvedere Park. We will be offering a backpack giveaway (while supplies last), food, activities, health screenings, & more
WATTS BACKPACK GIVEAWAY
TIME: 1PM
LOCATION: WATTS
3-THOUSAND BACKPACKS AND SCHOOL SUPPLIES WILL BE HANDED TO FAMILIES AT THE WATTS EMPOWERMENT CENTER.
INGLEWOOD BACK TO SCHOOL
TIME: 9AM-4PM

Free backpacks will also be given to children on Saturday while supplies last.
WHITTIER BACK TO SCHOOL
TIME: 12PM-2PM
LOCATION: 15466 WHITTIER BLVD, WHITTIER
Whittwood Town Center, an open-air shopping center will host a fun-filled “Back to School” event on Saturday, August 13th, from noon to 2 p.m. in the plaza near Kohl’s. During this event, there will be an enter-to-win contest for one of 10 free backpacks and a spin-to-win prize wheel with prizes ranging from pencils and pencil cases to notebooks, erasers, glue sticks and more. This event is free and open to the public. The shopping center invites the community to enjoy special back-to-school offers redeemable at center retailers, live music, face painting and balloon artistry.
